Tuition Assistance Down, Post-9/11 GI Bill Up

According to a report by MilitaryTimes.com, the number of service members using the tuition assistance benefit for active-duty soldiers has dropped over the past fiscal year, while the number of veterans and their families that have been using the Post-9/11 GI Bill has risen.

For-Profit Schools Face Increasing Oversight

Late last month the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia ruled on new regulations that will hopefully reduce the number of for-profit schools and certification programs that use fraudulent data to prey on veterans and low-income students.

Lenders Still Not Following SCRA

According to a report by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, some lenders are violating federal law by not adhering to the rules set forth in the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act, despite the fact that some recent violators have been fined millions of dollars.
